Real estate directories are collection of websites, usually organized by geography, sub-category and type of real estate.  Real estate directories are interesting for two reasons. First they provide an amalgam of other real estate sites and thus real estate webmasters.  This can serve as a starting point for promotions, networking, data mining, and contact information. 

Second, real estate directories offer their owners tremendous SEO power.  The links contained with a real estate directory can be applied to boost a particular sites search rank. 

That being said real estate directories also present a lot of work.  From a marketing/promotions stand point, harvesting the information across one or even several real estate directories is time consuming and monotonous.  A much more beneficial approach to marketing is to find quality real estate databases where most the leg work has been done already.
