The best advice I ever heard about promoting a real estate website is this. Design your site, put it up, set it up to be search engine friendly and then forget about it for 6 months to a year. That’s it. The fact of the matter is that more then anything else out there, more then all of the strategies, gimmicks, cheats, services and tools out there, the number one tool for website promotion is time. Sites that lack almost every element of esthetic appeal, the ugliest nastiest sites can be sitting pretty at the top of the charts simply because the have a history. By history I mean, they have been around for a while. A good rule of thumb to follow is the higher the ugly site sits in search engines, the longer its been around. In terms of real estate website promotions, this is a bit of a anathema. Somewhere between the ugly long term winners and new sites, there has to be a bit of a time line. There is. In fact the time line can be quite short. If you use the right search engine strategy for promoting your real estate website, then the time it takes for your real estate website to climb the search engine ranks can be very short indeed. However, bank on a minimum of six months to really start seeing results. During that six month period you can start to see movement however. Things like inbound links, traffic and search engine spider traffic are all good indicators of your real estate website promotion efforts.
