Make The Most Of Real Estate Site Design

If you look around the web at real estate site design, it is pretty apparent that many people see the web simply as an extension of traditional print media.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Weak real estate site design looks as though the designer simply stuck their brochure up on the screen. There is nothing that captures the imagination, draws the attention of the user or allows the user to interact.  While in some cases this type of real estate website design works, it is a far cry from maximizing the potential of the web.

Strong real estate site design on the other hand is beautiful to look at.  A user is drawn in, engaged with interactivity, and leaves with the sites relevant information and a strong want to return.  This is where real estate site design really shines.

Remember, the web is not merely an extension of print media.  Look at your real estate site design and ask your self: How is my real estate site design different from my print material? Am I engaging my users with interesting text and graphics? Can my users interact with my real estate site design? On a scale of one to ten, what kind of emotional impact does my real estate site design provoke?

Now, as a final note on real estate site design, it is possible to go overboard.  There is such a thing as ruining a good thing.  Think elegant and simple, not flashy and trick filled.  You want your real estate site design to strike a chord with your users not wow them with feats of coding wizardry.  You want the information laid out in your real estate site to take center stage, not your flashing text balloons.

Real estate site design is all about achieving balance - Balance between design and function.
