It doesn’t take much time to get your real estate website indexed in search engines if you know what your doing. However, there is no one answer to this question and it varies between search engines. Overall, we have had the easiest time getting indexed in Google and MSN, but have usually waited longer to get indexed in Yahoo. Once we set up our domains and get our sites hosted, we don’t bother submitting our links to any of those “link submission” sites, or automated sites that claim to submit your website to thousands of different search engines. The bottom line is that only a handful of search engines matter, and you can get indexed in them for free and usually pretty quickly by undertaking a basic backlinking campaign. If a site is already indexed in Google this means that Google spiders will come back to that site every now and again to index and new pages added, visit any new links and so forth. If there is one of your links on one of those indexed pages of another website, when the Googlebot comes by it will visit your site and add your site to their index as well. You don’t need to pay any money to do this, and getting indexed can take anywhere to a few days to a month. With search engine marketing (SEM) you need to have patience. The bottom line is, you won’t to better in your first month than you will in your 6 months. There is a delay in which the work you do actually gets noticed. If you get links, add articles and update your keywords this month, it will probably make more a difference in 3 months down the road than it will this month. Some of the best search engine advice we ever heard for new sites was “build a site, promote the hell out of it, then forget about it for 6 months”. Obviously the above quote is meant, only to stress an important point. Much of your internet marketing efforts will have a delayed reaction. Don’t get discouraged. Spend a little bit of time on a daily basis working on your real estate website. Get links, write articles, submit it to directories, rss directories, article directories for real estate articles and so forth.
