Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the most important parts of any real estate website marketing campaign. Showing up in the top of the search engines is a must if you want to fully capitalize on the benefits of the internet. Top search engine placement will mean countless new leads, and new leads; well those are up to you to convert to sales.

But the point of this article isn’t to teach you how to covert higher, but instead how to show up higher in the search engines. However, I would just like to point out, before I go into too much detail; do not be fooled by many of the companies out there who claim to be able to get you to the top of the search engines in 24 hours, or 3 months, or whatever their claim is. Search engines base results on an algorithm (a complicated mathematical equation). Google for example takes over 100 things into account when it’s indexing websites. But these 100 + things are not published anywhere. The best people can do is take educated guesses. For example, there is very good proof that Google uses the size of a website (number of internal pages) as one of many indexing factors. The more pages you have the higher you show up (very generally speaking). Also, the more backlinks you have the better (again, very generally speaking). The length of time your site has been around (i.e. 1 year 5 years?). Your HTML tags. The amount of text on your pages. The list goes on and on.

The bottom line is, there is no secret to search engine optimization. We believe in focusing on the big 4.

1) Getting lots of backlinks (reciprocal or not)
2) Building lots of 300+ word internal pages that relates to your site topic and adding new pages regularly
3) Internally linking your site properly. For example, on your articles pages you should put “related articles” at the bottom of your articles page, with related content.
