How to design a real estate website

Before designing a real estate website you must first sit down and ask yourself what it is you are trying to achieve with your site. If you are an agent that plans to use their website very rarely as a lead generating tool, then you won’t need all the bells and whistles that some of the more cutting edge real estate website use. You may chose to simply set up a real estate website as an online business card. People can go and get your contact information, learn a little bit about you and possibly even see a sample property or two.

However, if you’ve looked at the statistics and you realize the paramount importance of having an advanced real estate website then you’ll probably opt for a more comprehensive solution. Possible, something with unlimited picture uploads, search engine friendly pages, a traffic analytics program, easy to use backend admin panel and other helpful design and functionality elements.

Real estate website design doesn’t just mean banner design or color choices, it takes much more into account than this. If you are about to start designing your real estate website you should look at each of the following elements and figure out how each fits into your design concept.

1. Navigation
2. Color Scheme & color psychology
3. Banner and logo design
4. Typography
5. Headers and subheaders
6. Footer design
7. Website Tone
8. Interaction (email newsletter look, blog look, forum feel)

These are just some of the things you need to take into consideration when designing your real estate website. To learn more about other elements of real estate website design you can download our ebook here.
